FUTURE LEADERS' DAY | Our Sports Leaders were given the opportunity to participate in the Intermediate and Primary School Future Leaders Day run by Waitakere Sport. Emily Blowers, our Sports Prefect, absolutely blew the crowd away with her ability to get approximately 100 young rangatahi engaged with her opening speech on what it means to be a future leader. We are so incredibly proud of you Emily, ka mau te wehi!!! We also had a group of our Sports Leaders run a session of outside activity with the young rangatahi who attended. The feedback received from the teachers who attended this day with their Intermediate and Primary Schools was outstanding. Congratulations on an amazing job, by our students and all involved. |

NETBALL 9A | On Sunday 23 April our Year 9A netball team represented Massey at the North Harbour preseason college tournament. They came away with 3 strong wins and 1 close loss. The girls all played and represented Massey really well. Well done team! A big thank you goes out to Miss Field and Mrs Dower Cruden for their coaching and management of the team. Without them this wouldn't be possible. |
COLLEGE GAMES 2023 | Over the Easter weekend we had the largest group of 26 students represent Massey at the BBM College Games. A CrossFit event for High School students all over New Zealand. It was an awesome day, with students showcasing all of their hard work over the past 6-8weeks. Congratulations to our senior boys Joseph, Leslie, Norman and Ben who won the senior boys division. Our Senior girls, Kortni and Cyntalia who joined forces with Avondale College and MAGS coming away with 3rd place and our junior girls Acacia, Michaela and Jaime who came 2nd in their division. CrossFit is all about bringing communities together and we were so proud of our students who welcomed others from Edgewater, MAGS, Avondale and Sacred Heart into their teams. Huge thanks to our coaches Mr Kanuta, Ms Fusitu’a, Mr Toko and Mrs Kanuta for helping with the preparation leading up to this day. Thank you to Mr Mark Jones for supporting us through this campaign, Miss Golightly for making sure we were well fed on the day. And thank you to Ms Eed, Miss Fields and Mr Jones for supporting us during the day. |
SENIOR VOLLEYBALL | We have had an amazing Senior Volleyball season with 5 teams competing and 60 students training weekly. 2 teams in the west division with MHS hosting every Thursday, 2 teams in the central division and our girls in the premier division. All 4 teams were lucky enough to take the stage at Auckland volleyball senior champs this year, where we learnt alot. During the massive highs and even some lows our students showed discipline, strength and determination which showed when our Senior A boys came 8th in the competition that qualified the team to premier division for Nationals and the season in 2024 - this hasn't been done since the 1990's HUUUUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT for our students, coaches, parents and the school we are very proud of you all! We then took our Senior A teams to Nationals in Palmerston North a huge 7 days for all involved. Our Premier Boys came 8th in division 2 and 24th out of more than 150 secondary school teams and our Premier Girls came 3rd in their division bringing home bronze medals. Thanks to everyone involved in running 5 teams over the season we need alot of adult assistance, so we thank you all! Extended thanks to Coach Rudy who has been with us for 5 years now and grown the programme from 1 team to 5 teams with 2 in the Premier Division. Good luck to our Year 13s, it was a very emotional ending at nationals as they played their last games with us here at Massey High school, make sure you visit the doors are always open! VOLLEYBALL | Our Volleyball teams competed in the Auckland secondary school champs this week. They all did amazingly well with our Senior Boys making the top 8. With this they have made the Senior Volleyball Premier Grade which is a huge accomplishment and we now have 2 x Senior teams playing in the Prem Division - our Boys and Girls A teams! The 3-day tournament is great however, without the help of our Supporters, Drivers, Coaches, Parents, Managers and so many more from our community this would not be possible. We send a MASSIVE thank you out to all of you. |
GIANT2W GRAVITY ENDURO | Jett Stephens and Carson Farley competed in the Giant2W Gravity Enduro, they both represented Massey High School well. Jett took home the gold in the U17s and came 3rd overall out of 260 riders - Well done Jett and Carson! |
