Can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m Rebekah Trew and I am one of your academic leaders for 2023. I am an avid baker, and Latin food and salsa dancing are my jams!
What are your goals for this year?
My goals are to achieve NCEA level 3 with excellence endorsement alongside a high rank score to get into nitty gritty study such as Engineering or Biomedical Science next year. I also plan on preparing to spend the summer holidays, until the uni semester starts next year, in El Salvador alongside my grandparents, helping with their coffee plantation.
What would you like to achieve in your role?
We are the learning advocates!! Having a peer alongside you, especially as a junior in a massive school such as Massey, is comforting and I wish to be that person that fellow students can come to if they have questions or assistance with work.
What has been a highlight so far?
Seeing smiles on the year 9’s faces has been a massive highlight. It’s great encountering the positivity and bright attitude that students have for this environment of learning. I also enjoy the curiosity that comes with the fresh faces. They are questioners and I encourage them to continue to ask and ask, as curiosity will forever be their best friend in their education.

Can you briefly introduce yourself?
I’m William Kang and I am also one of your academic leaders for 2023. I love music; whether that’s listening to it or playing an instrument, it’s all a whole lot of fun.
What are your goals for this year?
This year, I aim to achieve NCEA level 3 with excellence endorsements, and reach an NCEA rank score of 280 to study in Biomedical Science, in hopes to pursue a career in Cardiothoracic Surgery. I also plan on gaining more scholarships. I’m hoping to have a healthy sleep schedule and making sure my time is well managed so that I can spend time with those I love too.
What would you like to achieve in your role?
I hope to be an approachable mentor as an academic leader this year, providing help to the juniors who have just started their high-school journey, and to those who are struggling with NCEA. (William)
What has been a highlight so far?
My highlight this year is guiding juniors through the paths they want to walk on by providing them with the most help possible. I’m happy to know that I’ve been an inspiration to juniors and it motivates me to work harder than ever. I wish to continue to nurture other students’ passion for learning as it is the driving factor to seek the heights.
