Geography Fieldtrip to Rotorua
From August 31st to September 2nd, Mrs. Cork and Mr. Murdoch's Level 3 Geography classes went on an expedition to Rotorua, to gather data and investigate tourism.
We embarked on a guided tour of Te Puia on Wednesday, witnessing the breathtaking Geysers and exploring the NZ Māori Arts & Crafts Institute. In the evening, we collected valuable data for our Research assessment.
Thursday began with an enlightening talk at the Rotorua Council building, delving into the history of tourism in Rotorua for our external assessment. We then enjoyed an exhilarating ride on the gondola and luge at Skylines.
Friday's adventures included the entertaining sheep show at Agrodome, followed by thrilling rides at Velocity Valley. This trip not only provided essential data for our internal assessments but also offered a wealth of knowledge about tourism. Our hard-working Level 3 Geography students had a fantastic time!
Special gratitude goes to Massey Primary School for lending us a van, and to Good Vibes and Brown Brothers Earthmoving for their generous fundraising donations. Additionally, the students' efforts through popcorn sales and sausage sizzles significantly reduced the cost per student from $330 to $80 for those involved.
