Principal's Pānui
22 November 2024
Three weeks of the school year remain.
NCEA External examinations have one week remaining, our senior students will be looking forward to the opportunity for rest that the forthcoming Summer break will provide. However, for those yet to sit their exams they can’t yet take the foot off the gas – short term sacrifice in terms of prioritizing their study will yield long term reward.
A reminder to our senior students as they finish their exams – for Years 11 through 13 – any school equipment (calculators, library laptops, Ministry laptops) can be returned at reception, just remember to provide information as to who is returning it. For our Year 13 students, if you have any items of uniform that you can donate – please drop them in at reception so that we can get them out to families in the new year.
Our planning for next year is gaining momentum, particularly around how we can better support our Year 9 students next year and better prepare them for their secondary school experience. We are expecting our Year 9 cohort to be up on this year, so that support is even more important.
Our current Year 9 and 10 students still have some significant events ahead – a junior Dance showcase, the Year 9 and 10 speech competitions, Junior Activity Week, and of course their prizegiving ceremonies that cap their final day of the year.
Letters outlining the start-up routines for each year level in 2025 will be sent out to whānau in early December – in the Interim, continue to monitor our website and social media for pertinent updates – particularly around the new additions to uniform for 2025.
Property
Our staff should be in a position to move back into the refurbished section of B Block in a couple of weeks. The new spaces look amazing, and our staff can’t wait to move back in after a series of delays. Similarly, our Admin Block should be re-opening at around the same time.
We are also expecting delivery of our new roll growth classrooms which will be situated behind B Block.
