Year 9 Whānau – Meet your Tutor Teacher Evening
Meet, greet and connect! Year 9 Whānau Evening - Meet your Tutor Teacher
With our Year 9 students coming to the end of their second full week at Massey High School, relationships have been established with their new classmates, and with their new teachers.
We would like to invite you (and your child) to meet your child’s Tutor Teacher who will be the most significant adult at Massey High School for them over the next 5 years.
As you are aware, the start of their time here focused on Whanaungatanga (relationships and belonging) and Manaakitanga (giving and receiving care, working together) – this was critical in establishing these new relationships.
Of equal importance is the relationship between your child’s Tutor Teacher and yourself. For most, the Tutor Teacher that they started their time here with will be the same Tutor Teacher that congratulates them as they graduate at the end of Year 13. It is the one teacher that they will see nearly every day, every year. They are the first point of contact for you, and they often become the go-to teacher for your child.
The hour will provide an opportunity to hear a little about how important the role of the Tutor Teacher is, the most effective ways to communicate with them, how they will support your child in their journey at Massey, the opportunities available, and to learn a little about the individual that is your child’s Tutor Teacher. There will be a brief welcome from the Principal, and an introduction to Mr Brendon Wheeler and Mrs Van der Kraaij, Year 9 Ākina Leader’s.
