All things sport for 2024.
Winter Tournament Update
The teams are back, armed with experience, knowledge, and newfound confidence! This year's tournament week was our biggest yet, with over 100 students participating. We're grateful for our selfless volunteers, managers, coaches, scorers, and supporters who dedicate their time to make this possible.
Our students truly stand out - their excellent manners, willingness to help, and sportsmanship shine among hundreds of schools. We feel blessed to be part of this community, making it happen!
Everywhere we went, other schools cheered and chanted for Massey. We formed friendships and gained supporters, like Golden Bay School in Blenheim and Sacred Heart of Napier, who praised our girls' resilience and positivity.
As tournament week ends, it's an emotional time for our Year 13s, marking the end of their Massey High School sports era. We wish them all the best and know they'll conquer any challenge they take on.
Huge thanks to our staff and volunteers - over 40 this winter season! - who go above and beyond to create a safe and positive environment for our rangatahi. Your dedication doesn't go unnoticed, and the excitement and gratitude are real!

Netball 2024 Season Review
We are thrilled to celebrate an exceptional netball season at Massey High School, marked by immense growth, dedication, and success. We are extremely fortunate to have a talented and dedicated team of coaches, managers, and student leaders who have stepped up to coach and manage our netball teams. Their expertise, guidance, and passion for the sport have been invaluable in fostering a positive and successful netball environment at Massey High School. We are grateful for the support of the Waitakere Centre, who assisted us with trials this year. Their involvement provided our students with a strong foundation for the season, setting them up for success and helping us achieve a fantastic start to the year.
This season, Massey High School achieved an outstanding feat with 8 out of 9 teams securing top 4 positions in their respective grades. The competition was fierce, with 5 teams vying for 1st place in their grades. The matches were thrilling, with our 10 Black and 9 White teams going into overtime. Ultimately, we emerged with 5 teams taking 2nd place and our student-coached team, MHS 9 Gold, led by Mayling and Cyriz, triumphantly taking 1st place in their grade. This is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, coaches, and managers.
We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the following individuals for their exceptional dedication and support throughout the netball season: Miss Field, Mrs Dower Cruden, Lorella Harrison, Loghan Brown, Ling Rousselle, Lisa Napier, Michelle Noble. Their tireless efforts ensured our teams received the care and nurturing needed to thrive, resulting in a truly successful season. Thank you for your invaluable contributions!
Our student coaches and umpires were instrumental in the running of netball this year, the leadership presented has been like no other in my time here at Massey - *umpires were needed weekly, and 5 teams were run by student coaches.
Special thanks to the following students: Willow Rissetto, Cayty Elia-Peters, Cyntalia Schuster, Mayling Rousselle, Cyriz Gregorio, Amy Major, Finn Napier, Maree Robertson, Xanthia Pasene, Qwensah Loli, Kelly Godden and Jess Puka.
